Just Women Magazine
From 1987 to 1997, women from Somerset met in each other’s homes and produced Just Women, a feminist magazine. The learning curve was steep – the pleasure was phenomenal. We learned new skills and provided a place where women could explore ideas and visions, growing in confidence, surrounded by friendship and laughter.
It was a remarkable decade and the experience helped me to develop in so many ways, giving me the confidence to find my voice and inspiring some of my fiction work, including The Chronicles of Focking Barton – also known as My Beautiful Baguette, part of which I recently reworked into a radio play, with the help of Sound Engineer Ivor Richards and starring novelist Judy Leigh who wrote this completely unbiassed blog about it.
I have compiled all of my writing from the magazine into eight pdfs which you can read here:
I will be adding more of my work and short stories to the archive over time – you can also read about my experiences and creative adventures on my blog.
